Pauleen Luna recently opened up about her relationship with Vic Sotto, commenting that it felt "weird" when he first started courting her.
In a Spotify podcast, "Surprise Guest With Pia Arcangel" that came out on July 5, Pauleen was asked by host Pia Arcangel what it felt like when Vic first started courting her. The actress said, "Weird. Nakaka-stress, actually. Because tahimik siya and he comes off as suplado."
Pauleen, who’s been married to Vic for 11 years, revealed that she was part of Eat Bulaga! for seven years and she did not have a decent conversation with him. She shared that their only communications would be a simple "Hi" and "Hello."
"He is super mysterious and so quiet. 'Yun nga, like what I said, he comes off as suplado. So parang medyo takot kami sa kanya," Pauleen said. She clarified, "We respect him as our superior and I don't think I don't need to talk to him and when I started to talk to him, it was kind of stressful."
Pauleen said that she and Vic started to talk via email when Vic asked for a photo that Pauleen took when their group went to Singapore. He eventually gave her his number. She shared, "We started off as friends and after a while, I realized na, 'Aba, okey pala siya.' I mean, he's very simple and not the guy I expected him to be."
When Pauleen was asked when she realized there was something between her and Vic, she shared that they transitioned to talking to each other more often and going out as a group until it was just the two of them.
According to Pauleen, it was Eat Bulaga! co-host Ruby Rodriguez who urged her to talk to Vic and the first to find out about their relationship. She said, "Kaibigan niya talaga si Vic and maaga palang, she already knew. 'Di naman niya pinush but she was very supportive."
When word of their relationship came out, Pauleen said, "It was me against the world. Ang daming kontra. So many people were weirded out." Vic, who's Pauleen's senior by 34 years, said that their age gap was never an issue. "I realized it was something serious when all those negative comments and bashing didn't matter," she said.
Pauleen added, "I think that made our relationship stronger because we were really in it together from the start."
