WATCH: This Pinay Shares How She Became A Proud Fangirl Of P-Pop Group SB19

Mona, a 26-year old Medical Technology graduate and video creator, remembers the *exact* date she became a fan of SB19: August 27, 2019. "Birthday kasi 'yon ng classmate ko and parang nagtipon-tipon kami," she tells Cosmopolitan. "And then yung roommate kong isa, sabi niya, 'Hoy, kilala niyo ba yung SB19?' Tapos, ayun nag-share kaagad siya ng videos. Yung una naming pinanood sa amin is yung dance practice. Tapos sabi namin, 'Wow, ang gagaling nilang sumayaw.'… Simula noon, naging A'TIN na ako."

Five-member P-pop group SB19 broke into mainstream media in 2019 when they released their smashing comeback single "Go Up" in July that same year. And it was this song that gave Mona the strength to go on and *go up* each day as she tirelessly worked on her internships. Mona shares, "To be honest, sila yung reason kung bakit talaga ako nakapag-survive sa internships. I don't think I can survive internships far away from home if hindi dahil sa kanila. Kasi yung kanta nila na 'Go Up' talaga, 'yan yung naging alarm ko doon, wala akong late, wala akong absent dahil sa kantang 'yan. Kahit na I'm so tired, wala akong pahinga, 'pag nag-play na yan, 'Yeah, we gonna go up!'"

Mona considers herself an OT5 (her bias list went from Josh to Ken to Stell to Sejun to Justin then to all five of them!) and had the chance to attend their Get In The Zone concert in Cagayan De Oro City. She actually has a ~crazy~ backstory of this concert because she went on 16-hour duties for one whole week just to allow her one night off to attend it! "'Yon siguro yung pinaka-unforgettable ko na experience," Mona says. "Nagpaalam ako sa medical instructor namin. Sabi ko, 'Sir, um, pwede po ba akong mag-double 16 hours ng duty? Tapos yung off ko is i-ano na lang siya, isunod?' Isang buong week ako nag-16 hours doon, para sunod talaga. Nag-attend ako ng concert, wala talaga akong proper sleep, and then, after concert, uwi agad. Tapos duty agad."

While she hasn't spent much money on her fangirling, Mona has invested so much time in SB19. From making song covers to getting to collaborate with the boys themselves (!?!), know more about Mona's fangirl experience with SB19 in Episode 21 of Fangirl Diaries below:
