WATCH: These Pinay Fangirls Share Their Everlasting Love For Super Junior

Super Junior need next to no introduction to Filipinos because, Hallyu lover or not, they are one of the biggest and first K-pop acts to ever win the hearts of Pinoys. In fact, they were the first K-pop group to hold a major solo concert in the Philippines back in 2010 for their Super Show 2 tour.

But for those who are newly acquainted with the K-pop legends, here's a bit of what you need to know: Super Junior debuted under SM Entertainment on December 6, 2005 as a 12-member project group, and became a permanent 13-member group in 2006. Super Junior currently has 10 membersLeeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyunand they are celebrating a milestone year this 2020, their 15th debut anniversary.

To pay tribute to Super Junior, we spoke to two longtime ELFs (aka Ever Lasting Friends, Super Junior's official fandom name), Gine and Malyn, to share their many fangirling experiences with their idols. Both 30-years-old and fans for around a decade (Gine in 2009 and Malyn in 2011), these fangirls have been through a lot with their ults and, naturally, have so many feels now that they are sharing the experience of celebrating SuJu's 15th anniv.

"Being part of that journey is making me very emotional," Gine shares. "When I tend to look back on the struggles we had to endure just to support Super Junior then, it makes me think na ito na yung narating namin. I'm so proud of them [for] being the pioneer of [the] Hallyu wave in the Philippines. I'm also thankful to Super Junior because they have been with me during the most difficult stages in my life."

Malyn adds, "[I'm] proud and happy because, for the 15 long years, they chose to stay together. They are still the same Super Junior we've known from the start."

The two also happen to share the same bias, Donghae, and their top fangirling moments have to be meeting him in real life! Malyn recounts seeing Donghae in his café, Haru & OneDay, when she was in Seoul: "Ako lang yung fan na nandon. Closing na ng café. I wasn't able to get his sign. Naka-ready na ako e! [But] I was so happy that time nasama ako sa IG Story ni Donghae."

Gine, on her part, was able to get a selfie with her bias! "We printed [a] signage in Korean that says, 'Oppa, can I have a selfie with you?' So during this one performance, Siwon saw that sign. Kinuha niya yung phone ko. Siya pa nag-change to selfie mode! He took a selca. Yung next naman is si Donghae naman yung kumuha ng phone. Yung selca na 'yon, sobrang tagal ko nang gustong mangyari!"
