Millions of people around the world are still weeping after Prince Philip was laid to rest on April 17, Saturday. 

One scene, in particular, that was utterly heartwrenching for netizens was seeing Queen Elizabeth seated alone at a pew in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the funeral ceremony was held.

"The shots on the BBC of Her Majesty The Queen alone are breaking my heart in two," said British host Fearne Cotton. "A beautiful ceremony. A long, amazing life celebrated so perfectly."

British journalist Jane Merrick commented on Twitter that it was "very difficult to watch a newly-widowed 94-year-old on her own like this."

Dressed in black, with a white-trimmed face mask, the Queen had to be seated alone as a safety protocol amid the ongoing pandemic. Only 30 guests were part of the congregation.

The Queen, members of the royal family, the Duke's household, along with a combination of personnel from the British Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Marines accompanied the coffin as it was carried to St. George's Chapel.

Prince Harry flew to the U.K. and joined the procession. According to reports, Meghan Markle watched the funeral coverage from home in the U.S. as she is currently pregnant with their second child.

Prince Philip's coffin was lowered into the royal vault. When the Queen passes away, his remains will be moved to join hers at the King George VI memorial chapel.
