Rico Yan is a household name not just because of his ~iconic~ "pwede ipakilala kay mommy" look but because of his roles in both TV and film. While the actor's love team and IRL relationship with Claudine Barretto is more well-known, ABS-CBN also paired Rico with the likes of Judy Ann Santos and Jolina Magdangal! If you're missing the actor right now, we prepared a list of his films that are available on the streaming service iWantTFC.
Here's a list of Rico Yan movies you can stream right now:
1. Radio Romance (1996)
The plot: A librarian played by Gelli De Belen secretly works as a radio disc jockey at night—she listens to her fans' love problems and offers advice! Along with many other popular stars from the 90s, Rico and Claudine played college characters named Gary and Marianne in the film.
2. Ama, Ina, Anak (1996)
The plot: "Marilen and Santi long for a child of their own, but after each miscarriage, the couple feels that the chances of having a child get slimmer. The couple then decides to adopt a baby girl, Issa, and raise her as their own. Years after, Marilen and Santi are finally blessed with their own biological child. Issa now has to adjust from being the star of the family to the outsider." Rico Yan played the love interest of Jolina Magdangal in the film!
3. Madrasta (1996)
"I was never your partner, I'm just your wife. Kaya hindi mo ako nirerespeto." This line is probably what we all remember most from the movie, where Sharon Cuneta plays the stepmother of Christopher De Leon's three children. In Madrasta, Rico was once again paired with Claudine, who played one of Christopher's children.
4. Paano Ang Puso Ko? (1997)
Looking for a Rico Yan love triangle? In this movie, Rico and Wowie De Guzman play cousins Jason and Ruben, who both fall for Judy Ann Santos' character Cecile. Jason is a balikbayan from the US, and according to iWant, "he has a secret that can turn all their lives upside down!"
5. Flames: The Movie (1997)
In this two-part movie, Rico and Claudine star in Pangako: "Karina's life revolves around her widowed mother and her younger siblings, and her chance to forget about her boring life comes when Joel enters the picture. Karina is finally happy, but cannot help but feel guilty about her newfound happiness." (via iWantTFC)
6. Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita (1998)
Despite their differences, campus "bad girl" Mela (Claudine) and "Mr. Sungit" Miguel (Rico) fall for each other. Mela even changes her whole personality just to gain his approval (which is kinda a red flag). Seriously, though: this film is A CLASSIC.
7. Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay (1998)
Main reason to watch? RICO YAN WITH GLASSES! According to iWantTFC: "Anna and Alex fall in love with each other in the beautiful province of Ilocos, but their individual dreams and responsibilities get in the way of their relationship."
8. Mula Sa Puso: The Movie (1999)
Heiress Via's life (Caudine) is saved by Gabriel (Rico) when she is kidnapped on the night of her 18th birthday. The two, of course, fall madly in love, but it seems like everyone is against them. Via's father, who calls Gabriel "hampaslupa," has even arranged her marriage to her childhood friend Michael (Diether Ocampo)! And yes, this movie is the origin of that Princess Punzalan meme.
9. Gimik: The Reunion (1999)
"Best friends from college who were always there for each other through the good and bad find themselves drifting apart as they try to make their own lives as adults. Will the real world make these once-inseparable friends forget about college and move on without each other? Is there really such a thing as true friendship that will stand the test of time?" (iWantTFC)
10. Got 2 Believe (2002)
For the actor's last known film, he played Lorenz, "a wedding photographer who doesn’t believe in happy endings." He meets a wedding coordinator named Toni, who is convinced she will meet Mr. Right! But what happens when the two make a bet that leads them to discover their feelings for one another? (via iWantTFC)
