When you can't get over a particular movie and your fangirl heart is still on a high, what better way to fill that gaping hole in your chest than to read the movie's story in print, right? Here, we rounded up five of our favorite Filipino rom-coms and romance films and their book ~companions~!
1. Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019)
According to ABS-CBN, the official novel of the hit film will contain more details about Joy's life in the Philippines, before she moved to Hong Kong. *Spoiler alert!* Hello, Love, Goodbye: The Novel will also contain an epilogue, so we'll finally know more about what happened after Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) and Ethan (Alden Richards)...temporarily parted ways.
2. Alone/Together (2019)
Calling all aspiring scriptwriters who can't get enough of Christine (Liza Soberano) and Raf (Enrique Gil)! This is the book for you. According to Alone/Together writer-director Antoinette Jadaone, "Black Sheep asked me if I wanted a novelization (it's easier to read in prose than in screenplay format after all), but I want to grab this chance to let you in on our filmmaking process—how a written scene is brought to life, for the better or worse. Sana may ma-inspire maging scriptwriter! Mahirap, nakakabaliw, pero masarap."
3. 100 Tula Para Kay Stella (2017)
This novel, based on the movie by Jason Paul Laxamana, lets you experience the heartbreak through the written word! Shy and awkward Fidel (JC Santos) vows to write a hundred poems for cool rakista Stella (Bela Padilla), a girl he's liked since their first year in college.
4. She's Dating The Gangster (2014)
As all KathNiel fans know, unlike the previous three films, this one is actually based on a Wattpad novel by Bianca Bernardino. Kenji (Daniel Padilla) asks Athena (Kathryn Bernardo) to be his "pretend" girlfriend just so he can make his ex—who happens to be named Athena, too—jealous!
5. Diary Ng Panget (2014)
Before Viva films adapted it into a movie starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre, Diary Ng Panget was published as a four-volume series! The original, unedited story was first posted on Wattpad by writer HaveYouSeenThisGirl.
