Fans of K-Pop group Red Velvet were outraged when one of its members, Wendy, got into a serious accident on December 25 while rehearsing for Gayo Daejun, an annual music festival of South Korean television and radio network company Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS). Red Velvet is the girl group behind the smash hit "Umpah Umpah", which is under their new mini-album The ReVe Festival: Day 2.

According to reports, Wendy fell from a platform during the rehearsal. One of the field staff present at the rehearsal claimed that Wendy was going down what was supposed to be stairs fixed in place when she lost her balance and fell down the stage.

"The stairs were not ready," said the field staff member. "Not even the common (fluorescent) marking was visible so that was how she fell below 2.5 meters in such a defenseless state."

Wendy suffered a fracture on her right pelvis and wrist, as well as a cracked cheekbone.

On the same day, SBS also released an update on Red Velvet's performances at Gayo Daejun, announcing that they would not be performing as a group but individually for their other planned performances.
