We all know Selena Gomez chills with celebs like professional cool-girl Petra Collins and professional cat lady Taylor Swift—but she also has, like, regular-person friends. You know, people who aren't famous, who seem super chill, and who spend their time hanging with Selena IRL instead of hanging with her on Instagram like the rest of us.
Sel just got matching tattoos with some of her nearest and dearest, so it seems like the right time to get to know them better. Ready? Okay!
COURTNEY BARRY
Courtney is Selena's best friend, her literal number one—at least, that's the vibe I'm getting from the matching "1" tattoos they just got together.
What does Courtney do when she's not hanging with Selena, you ask? Well, a lot: She happens to be the founder and president of a social media and marketing agency called West of Fairfax. She also frequents Hillsong, the very same mega-church where Selena is often spotted. Apparently, friends who pray together stay together! (Except for Selena and Justin. They definitely prayed together and did NOT stay together.)
Sel and Courtney go way back—seven years, in fact. So if you're wondering how tight the pair truly is, the answer is: Very, very tight. Selena just gave Courtney a heartfelt shout out on Instagram:
You are an incredible woman. The way you handle life's most confusing moments is indescribable and graceful. You are moved by the littlest stories to the most heartbreaking ones, you will give someone your perfume if they say you smell nice, you are freaking hilarious and always stand firm in your faith, a loving sister, an amazing friend, and a beautiful daughter. You are the definition of FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made baby. #1
ASHLEY COOK
Ashley is one of Selena's oldest friends (they've known each other for a whopping 12 years), and was also part of the group that recently all got matching tattoos. "You are my 4 for the rest of my life. I love you ladies," Selena said on Instagram. "You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already." (Scroll through the gallery to see the actual inking go down—Ashley is the brunette in the black dress in the second photo.)
It's unclear how Ashley and Selena first met, but Ashley is referenced in a 2015 Billboard article as a "realtor" and one of Selena's roommates at the time. She doesn't post too many pictures of Selena to her Insta, and when she does, she leaves them untagged. Because she's chill like that.
RAQUELLE STEVENS
Raquelle—who remains an enigma in terms of what she does for a living—also got in on that tattoo action, which means she's known Selena for at least seven years. Unlike Ashley, she posts a ton of photos of Selena to social media, so get ready to scroll:
FYI, Selena was recently rumored to be dating Raquelle's younger brother Caleb, which is most definitely NOT true.
CAROLINE FRANKLIN
Caroline runs in the same crew as Selena and Courtney Barry, but she didn't get matching tattoos with the rest of 'em.
This spiritual influencer-in-the-making is also very committed to Christianity, and happens to be dating a preacher named Jordan Wagner. Cute!
ANNA COLLINS
Ballet dancer/model Anna has been hanging with Selena a *lot* lately, but they appear to be relatively new-ish friends—at least in comparison to some of the ride-or-dies mentioned earlier on this list.
Some not-at-all-stalkery social media scrolling suggests that Anna and Selena probably met through Anna's sister Petra Collins, the artist who directed several of Sel's music videos.
By the way, Anna is married to a hot musician named Fox Atticus Martindale, and their wedding photo is everything:
CONNAR FRANKLIN
Connar is a model who has been hanging with Selena all the damn time lately. Here she is casually modeling her Coach bags!
And here they are together at Selena's birthday!
Fun fact: Connar is dating musician and former Vine star Aaron Carpenter:
And yes, like most of Selena's friends, she is pals with Jesus:
And, like Selena, she is pals with Taylor Swift.
Welp, there you have it!
