Selena Gomez has opened up about her career, saying that she is considering leaving the music industry for good because she is frustrated at not being taken seriously.
In an interview with Vogue for their April 2021 issue, Selena spoke about the challenges of the industry and revealed that she is considering permanently retiring from music after her next album.
"It's hard to keep doing music when people don't necessarily take you seriously," she said in her April cover interview.
"I've had moments where I've been like, 'What's the point? Why do I keep doing this?' Lose You to Love Me, I felt, was the best song I've ever released, and for some people it still wasn't enough," she added.
"I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that, I'm so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it'll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music."
When she is asked for more details on her potential retirement, Gomez says, "I need to be careful," before clarifying that what she means is she wants to "give myself a real shot at acting."
This year, Selena will star in Only Murders in the Building, a Hulu comedy series that follows three strangers obsessed with true crime, who suddenly find themselves embroiled in one.
