You know, one would think that since it's 2019, people on the internet would just mind their own business and allow others to live their lives as they see fit, but sadly that is sooo not the case. Case in point: Instead of letting new mother Shay Mitchell enjoy herself following nine grueling months of pregnancy, people judged her for going out.
Allow me to get you up to speed: In case you missed it, Drake celebrated his 33rd birthday last week on October 24. And since Drake is...well, Drake, he threw a massive party and invited all his celebrity friends, including Adele, Rihanna, and, coincidentally, Shay. Shay went and had a blast, because if anyone knows how to throw a party, it's Mr. OVO himself—duh!
People online were extremely critical of Shay attending Drake's party because just a few days earlier on October 20, she gave birth to her newborn baby girl and confirmed it by posting the most adorable picture to her Instagram.
Some of the comments were particularly vicious:
"Wait, so you literally just had her and you're more worried about clubbing with Drake? Woooow."
"You partied three days after her birth...no respect."
"I hope the child's aid looks into this and your abilities to be a good parent cause damn!!! Lacking some serious skills there sweety!"
"'Never letting go...'...except when there's a party to go to, right?! Disgusting, leaving your newborn only days after her birth."
But thankfully, Shay has some real tough skin and decided to troll her mommy shamers instead of explaining her choices. "I haven't been really checking my comments that often, but apparently, people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party. It wasn't three days and she was with [my dog] Angel, so…" she joked in a now-deleted video posted to her Instagram Story. To be clear, she was kidding about the Angel part, as she later said on Twitter.
Honestly, kudos to Shay for sticking it to literally everyone who judged her. She should be able to go out, baby or not!
