8 Things You Need To Know About Korean Actor Shin Seung Ho

If you've been following Alchemy Of Souls, one of the more recent top-rating K-dramas, then chances are you're mightily familiar with the hunky actor playing Daeho's crown prince, Go Won. Shin Seung Ho is his name and, just like you, he's definitely on our radar.

He gives off that tsundere vibes—like that well-accomplished varsity senior in your high school that everyone has a crush on, including you. And the more na masungit siya sa'yo, the more that you want to get to know him better and, eventually, win his heart. And in that regard, we're here to help!

Here are eight things you should know about Shin Seung Ho:

1. He was born on November 11, 1995, which makes him a Scorpio.

It's intriguing how Cosmo UK described Scorpios as "strong, enigmatic, independent characters who crackle with an intensity and charisma that makes them un-ignorable." It's like they’re describing Seung Ho exactly the way I thought he's like IRL. They further described Scorpios as confident but not arrogant, and that they have a piercing gaze—another undeniable Seung Ho characteristic!

2. He was an athlete for 11 years!

For most of his formative years, Seung Ho was a soccer player who endured various difficulties for the love of the game. However, it came to a point where he no longer felt happy playing the sport. In the last two years of his soccer-playing years, he felt that the soccer path was no longer his to continue so he ultimately made the decision to hang up his cleats for good.

3. He was a model before diving into acting.

After he quit soccer, people around him advised Seung Ho to go into modeling. After all, he stands at 187 cm and has the dashing looks of a model. He joined the SBS Supermodel Contest in 2016 and walked the runway of Seoul Fashion Week in 2017. Eventually, he was told that his more muscular physique is better suited for an actor. He heeded that advice and started to take acting lessons, at which point a new pathway opened up for Seung Ho.

4. He is managed by King Kong by Starship Entertainment.

King Kong Entertainment used to be an independent actor management company before it merged with Starship Entertainment in 2015. Kim Bum was King Kong's first ever actor. Now, the company also lists Seung Ho as one of its actors along with some of the big names in the industry. This includes Song Seung Heon, Lee Dong Wook, Lee Kwang Soo, Yoo Yeon Seok, Im Soo Jung, and Chae Soo Bin to name a few.

5. He made his acting debut in 2018 in the web drama, A-TEEN.

In it, Seung Ho played the role of Nam Si Woo, who was a basketball player at Seoyeon High School. Like his friends, Si Woo also faced the challenges of being a high school student who was on the brink of adulthood. Si Woo was Seung Ho's first leading role in his first-ever work as an actor, so this experience was something he was truly fond of. "There are some others who cried, but I was the only guy who cried. I got so attached to this work because it is my first," he revealed in an interview with Korea JoongAng Daily. He reprised the role in A-TEEN Season 2, which aired in 2019.

6. His first TV drama is At Eighteen.

With his rising popularity due to the success of A-TEEN, Seung Ho was cast in the JTBC series, At Eighteen. He played the role of Ma Hwi Young, a student at Cheonbong High School, who is perfect on paper but broken and complex underneath. His on-screen character may be heavy and brooding but the drama’s director, Shim Na Yeon, revealed that Seung Ho is actually playful. He got along really well with the cast too, with drama lead Ong Seung Wu even calling Seung Ho "my dad."

7. He wanted to play the role of an athlete and got his wish when he was cast in the film, Double Patty.

In a 2019 interview, Seung Ho expressed his dream of doing a role similar to Park Seo Joon's character in Fight for My Way. "I think if I play an athlete, I might be able to connect with the character more," he said.

Not too long after, he landed the lead role for his first-ever movie project, Double Patty. Starring alongside Red Velvet's Irene, Seung Ho plays the role of Kang Woo Ram who is a ssireum athlete. To prepare for the role, he had to join an actual ssireum team to fully immerse himself in the daily life of a ssireum player. At the film's press conference, director Baek Seung Hwan told the media that there were a lot of top stars and popular actors to choose from, but none had the aura and strength of Seung Ho. Naks!

8. He is pretty much like his Alchemy Of Souls character, Go Won. And he doesn't call back.

His Alchemy Of Souls castmates revealed that Seung Ho is pretty much Go Won in real life, except that Seung Ho isn't cranky, is mischievous, and likes to prank others. As an ENFP, he is very tender and friendly despite his tough looks, says his co-star, Jung So Min.

His other co-stars, Hwang Minhyun and Lee Jae Wook, also revealed that Seung Ho doesn't call them back. Minhyun revealed that he would often make plans to hang out with Seung Ho and would let him know about it. "Then he’s like, 'I'll call you later.' But he never calls back," Minhyun narrated in a Netflix video. In the same video, Jae Wook could be seen agreeing with Min Hyun and sharing his own version of the story. He said that Seung Ho would normally set off first after filming and would usually say "Let's talk later," but never does call them back. What a funny lad!
