Song Joong Ki's newest K-drama premiered on Netflix today, June 1. It's a fantasy drama called Arthdal Chronicles and tells the story of the birth of civilization in the ancient city of Arthdal, the capital of Gojoseon (the ~ancient~ name of Korea).
Well, here's to more great news! Joong Ki's next project is a film called Lightning Ship, which will be a science fiction feature "set against the universe's background." This means that it's going to be a space movie and we'll probably see Joong Ki as an astronaut. OMG.
Joong Ki will be starring alongside actress Kim Tae Ri, whose previous projects include The Handmaiden (2016) and Mr. Sunshine (2018). The film will be directed by Jo Sung Hee, who also worked with Joong Ki on A Werewolf Boy (2012).
Lightning Ship is going to be a co-production between Korea and China, and has already received a budget of 5 billion Won (P219.53 million) from Huayi Tencent Entertainment! Lightning Ship has reportedly wrapped up its casting and pre-production and will begin filming in July 2019. We can't wait!
