Sound Check: Aiza Seguerra Live

A Michael Jackson cover, Eraserheads’ Raymund Marasigan on drums for two more covers—what more could you ask?
In doing her first studio album for Star Records, Aiza Seguerra Live, Aiza transformed Teatrino Theater into a recording studio.

Set on the day Michael Jackson died, June 25, Aiza and her band immediately practiced—for production but not necessarily for recording purposes—one MJ song, Man In The Mirror. During the session, Aiza stressed that this is just a tribute to her idol and it won’t be part of the album they are recording. But the big bosses of Star Records decided otherwise upon hearing her rendition.

Now that it’s released, lo and behold, her studio was able to secure the rights to include the song in the fifteen-cut album.

Incidentally, Raymund Marasigan of Sandwich and formerly of the Eraserheads played the drums for two E-Heads songs included in the album, Magasin and Ang Huling El Bimbo—making this album something worth checking out.
