Sure, there have been several quarantine-themed shows and documentaries over the past months, but did you ever expect to see a musical set during the pandemic? Well, streaming service Viu and Filipino content creation house This Side Up is getting ready to present us with Still, an inspirational musical series!
Here's what we know about Still (so far):
What is Still all about?
The musical narrative series will have eight episodes and will focus on a group of aspiring artists named Sab, Tugs, Iggy, Leigh, and Laura, who get stuck in a music camp during the first months of the pandemic. Not gonna lie, this is giving me serious Camp Rock-with-a-twist vibes and I'm so excited to see awesome musical numbers.
According to a press release from Still: "In this time of isolation, they unlock friendship and rediscover themselves and their dreams through powerful and poignant music. The show evokes the anxiety, loss, grief, and sadness that the past year and a half has brought, but it’s also a story of courage, strength, connection, and hope."
Who's in the cast of Still?
Julie Anne San Jose as Laura
Christian Bautista as Nikolas and Bituin Escalante as Annette
Gab Pangilinan as Sab and Mike Shimamoto as Iggy
The show also stars Gabby Padilla, Lance Reblando, Abe Autea, MC Dela Cruz, Chaye Mogg, Roco Sanchez, Ian Hermogenes, and Shaira Opsimar.
Who's the creative team behind it?
A super impressive group of people, that's who! Still's creative team includes Pat Valera (known for Mula Sa Buwan, Dekada '70), Giancarlo Abrahan (Sila Sila, Dagitab), and Nicco Manalo (Ang Kwento Nating Dalawa, Tayo Sa Huling Buwan Ng Taon). The series is directed by Treb Monteras, produced by Monster Jimenez, with music and lyrics by Nica Del Rosario, Mike Shimamoto, and Matthew Chang.
Do we have a trailer for Still yet?
Yup! The offish teaser dropped on July 13:
