The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a medical technology student who was allegedly blackmailing a woman with her nude photos to extort money from her.
The suspect was identified as Lonny Lou Beltran who was apprehended by the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group at a computer shop near his condominium unit in New Manila, Quezon City.
Authorities recovered the marked money used for the entrapment in the suspect’s condominium unit, ABS-CBN reported.
PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group official PSS Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the move was an old online modus operandi being reused by unscrupulous individuals on unsuspecting victims.
“Bali she was lured to present pictures of her na nakadamit and then eventually naked siya kapalit ng career sa modeling and of course talent fee,” he said.
“Pag bigay ng mga pictures na yun, gagamitin ito ngayon para i-threaten siya na magbigay pa ng iba pang mga video o photos or para i-upload and mang extort ng pera,” he added.
Beltran is currently detained at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.
He is facing charges for robbery-extortion and violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act where he faces a maximum sentence of up to 16 years and a fine of no more than P500,000.
