In a recent episode of The Bottomline hosted by Boy Abunda, Cuddle Weather actress Sue Ramirez got teary-eyed as she talked about young moviegoers favoring movies with popular actors.

The clip, which was uploaded on YouTube on September 8, begins with Sue as she said, “Medyo na-emotional ako Tito Boy doon sa fact na ang tinitingnan pala ng mga kabataan ngayon ay kung gaanong kasikat ang artista na bumibida sa isang pelikula.

The actress continued, “Masakit siya for us, kasi not everyone is as big as everyone. And I just feel like they’re not giving other people the chances that they deserve for the beautiful stories that they make, [and] for the hard work that they put into [the projects]. These movies that we lost sleep, blood, sweat, and tears [for].”

Getting emotional at this point, a tearful Sue said, “I think it is unfair that the majority of the people in this country actually look at who is on the screen rather than what you can get from the movie that you’re going to watch. So it hurts.”

Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chair Liza Diño, who was also one of the guests in the episode, got teary from Sue’s statement. Sue added, “First question pa lang, sabi ko, ‘Direk, na-emotional ako. Ang sakit.’ Kasi yun nga, mahirap tanggapin for us.”

Boy then asked Sue, “Why are you so proud of this movie?”

Sue shared that Cuddle Weather has challenged her and has opened her mind to many things. Sue said, “I’m proud of this movie because this has made me proud of myself. Because I took on a challenge that I never thought that I would. It opened my mind to so many things and binuksan nito ang isip ko with [the] judgment against other people. You don’t know anything about these people, why would you even look at them [with] a perception na sobrang hindi mo pinagisipan man lang?”

Sue put it frankly while joking, “Hindi lang ‘to pokpokan, guys. Maniwala kayo sa akin. Kasi ako mismo, I experienced [a] change in myself in doing this movie.”

Cuddle Weather is an official entry to the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) which will happen on September 12 to 19 in cinemas nationwide.
