There are only nine days until Taylor Swift's documentary Miss Americana hits Netflix, and she just spoke with Variety about the new project, her ongoing beef with Kanye West and Scooter Braun, her political beliefs, and her mother's ongoing battle with cancer.

After explaining that she'll continue to speak up about things that are important to her (i.e., LGBTQ+ rights and artists' rights), Taylor said that while she normally spends nine months touring after she releases a new album, she'll reduce that to four stadium shows as well as a few festivals in Europe this year. Her motivation to cut back on her time on the road has everything to do with her mother, Andrea Swift.

The "Lover" singer previously shared that her mother's breast cancer had returned for a second time, but Taylor just revealed that Andrea was also recently diagnosed with a brain tumor while they were filming.

"She was going through chemo, and that's a hard enough thing for a person to go through," Taylor admitted. She went on to say, "While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor. And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we've ever been through with her cancer before. So it's just been a really hard time for us as a family."

Taylor also said that at the moment, they're not sure what treatment they're going to choose, but taking time off of touring is what's best for her family right now. She shared, "Everyone loves their mom; everyone's got an important mom, but for me, she's really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness."
