6 Taylor Swift Song Covers By Your Favorite K-Pop Idols

Unless you're living under a rock for the past month, you most likely know that Taylor Swift dropped her latest album, Midnights, on October 21, 2022. And the album has broken records left and right. Taylor Swift's natural talent for creating hits and writing poetic lyrics coupled with a huge and loyal fanbase, it's no surprise that she has become one of the biggest artists of the decade or maybe even of all time!

And because she's so well-loved, a lot of K-pop idols have showed their love for Taylor and her songs through singing her songs. Some do it on V-lives while interacting with fans, some choose to sing her songs for a special segment in a concert or event, and some upload covers online. This means more content for us, especially if you're both a K-pop fan and a Swiftie!

Here are some K-pop covers of popular Taylor Swift songs for you to enjoy:

1. Red Velvet's Wendy – "Speak Now"

A few months before Red Velvet's debut, SMTOWN posted an SMROOKIES video of Wendy singing Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" while playing the song on her guitar. Her voice is bright and refreshing and the song cover quickly became a favorite among K-pop fans waiting for Red Velvet to debut. In an episode of Kiss The Radio, Wendy also did a short cover of the song and talked about her pre-debut cover. Hopefully, we get more of Wendy's lovely voice and guitar skills in a full cover of a new Taylor Swift song!

"Speak Now" is the title track of Taylor Swift's third studio album of the same title released in 2010. The lyrics depict the story of a woman interrupting the wedding of the man she loves. The title and main theme of the song come from the saying, "Speak now or forever hold your peace."

2. Yuju – "I Knew You Were Trouble"

"I Knew You Were Trouble" is probably quite a hard song to cover. But Yuju shows why she's the girl group's main vocalist with her own rendition of the song during a Kiss The Radio guesting. Yuju's cover proved her potential as a rookie and true enough, GFRIEND rose to fame and became one of the top girl groups of their time.

"I Knew You Were Trouble" is the second single from Taylor Swift's fourth studio album, Red, released in 2012. The lyrics talk about seeing and knowing all the red flags of a toxic relationship from the start so there's no one else to blame after it ended but herself.

3. TWICE'S Tzuyu feat. Stray Kids' Bang Chan– "ME!"

We love it when K-pop idols from different groups collab like this! Tzuyu's cover of me had its own music video which showcased different sides of her. From cute to sexy and sassy, fans are treated to a visual overload. But NGL, we were half-expecting Bang Chan to appear in the music video, too! We love the combination of Tzuyu and Bang Chan's voices in such a fun song.

TZUYU MELODY PROJECT “ME! (Taylor Swift)” Cover by TZUYU (Feat. Bang Chan of Stray Kids)

"Me!" is the lead single from Taylor Swift's seventh studio album, Lover, released in 2019. The song's lyrics are fun and show a conversation between lovers telling each other that they'll never find someone like the other. Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco featured in the original song. The official music video is bright, colorful, and lively. It will stick in your mind along with the song for sure!

4. Cignature's Belle – "Love Story"

Signfans, Cignature's fandom name, went crazy when this cover was released with a video of Belle singing in a black outfit. Belle choosing "Love Story" for a song cover was a perfect choice for her. The song matches her sweet look and personality. She was totally adorable all throughout the video!

'Love Story' Taylor Swift - Vocal Cover by BELLE

"Love Story" is the lead single from Taylor Swift's second studio album, Fearless, released in 2008. The lyrics and the music video completely tell a modern take on the Romeo-and-Juliet love story but with a happy ending this time. The song is a classic Taylor Swift song that everyone, even non-fans, most likely know.

5. Juniel – "Safe & Sound"

Singer-songwriter Juniel has covered a few Taylor Swift songs in her radio guestings. She would choose the hidden gems to sing like "Safe & Sound" and "Change." She also plays the guitar which makes her covers have that unique touch. Not to mention Juniel has a crystal-clear voice that captivates and is perfect for the acoustic sides of Taylor Swift's discography.

JUNIEL - Safe & Sound

"Safe & Sound" is one of the songs from the album The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 and Beyond released in 2012 which is a compilation of songs inspired by the movie The Hunger Games. The song portrays a lullaby sung by Katniss to her younger sister, Prim, promising she'll be alright no matter the chaos going on outside. The Civil Wars are also featured in this song.

6. Cignature's Chloe – "Blank Space"

This girl group must really like Taylor Swift! Another member, Chloe, released a video of her cover of "Blank Space." And like Belle, this song choice matches Chloe's voice and personality, too. It had a perfect mix of sass and cuteness. You'll want to check out more of Cignature's music and song covers after watching this video!

'Blank Space' Taylor Swift - Vocal Cover by CHLOE

"Blank Space" is a song from Taylor Swift's fifth studio album, 1989, released in 2014. The lyrics are a satire on Taylor's reputation as a serial dater who discards guys when she's tired of them. She even talks about this directly in her 2020 documentary, Miss Americana.

Bonus: Nmixx's Lily – "All Too Well"

We couldn't find an official video of the song cover but Lily's short performance of "All Too Well" is hands down one of the best Taylor Swift covers we have heard. Her vocal color gives the song a unique but still heart-breaking flavor. We can't stop playing it on repeat and our greatest wish at this moment is a full cover!

With all these Taylor Swift covers we can watch;\, we still want more! Hopefully, our favorite K-pop idols will release new song covers of the Midnights album tracks soon. We wonder if Taylor will ever collaborate with a K-pop group. Or maybe the bigger question is: Who? We can only sit tight and wait!
