The morning of March 4 seemed to be like a normal taping day for Kim Chiu, but two yet-to-be-identified gunmen fired eight bullets at Kim’s van. The actress, who was with her personal assistant and driver at the time of the shooting, came out unscathed from the incident.
In an Instagram post, the actress shared photos of the scene and recounted that the incident happened at around 6 a.m. She was on her way to work and was asleep inside her car. She then heard eight gunshots.
The actress wrote: “Then I saw this bullet on the windshield where my head was laying ‘buti nakahiga ako.’ Paano kung tinuloy ko magbasa ng script? I was so scared, I don’t know what to feel right now.”
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, a tearful Kim said, “I was scared. Magtratrabaho ako papuntang taping tapos magigising ako na pinagbabaril yung kotse ko. So hindi ko alam what’s happening, hindi ko alam kung may kaaway ako, wala naman.”
The actress shared that she was supposed to read her script but felt sleepy so she just lay down. She said, “Kung hindi ako inantok at tinuloy ko yung pagbasa ng script, siguro tinamaan na ako [on my right shoulder].
Describing what happened, Kim said, “Maliit lang yung putok, manipis yung tunog. Sabi ko, ‘Ano yun, ano yung nangyari?’ Tapos pumunta ako sa driver and P.A. ko, tapos sabi nila nabaril yung kotse.”
After the incident, Kim was fetched by their other driver and went to work as if nothing happened. She said, “Instinct ko pumunta akong taping, nag-take ako ng dalawang eksena.”
Of course, Kim had questions as to why those things were happening. The actress said, “Nagkamali ba yung nagbaril or nagkamali ba siya ng sasakyan na babarilin? I don’t mean harm to anybody, nagpapasalamat ako na walang natamaan sa amin.”
The actress continued, “Masasabi ko na lang, life is really precious kahit wala kang sakit, wala kang kasamaan ng loob. Kung natamaan ka ng balang iyon, wala ka na.”
