Toni spoke to PEP.ph and members of the press in an event on February 13, 2020. There she was asked about Alex's engagement and upcoming nuptials.
Toni shared that Mikee had not told her about the proposal, which happened on a trip to Hong Kong with Alex and her parents, Bonoy and Pinty Gonzaga. Instead, it was Toni's husband Paul Soriano who had a hunch about that trip.
"Si Paul ang nagsabi sa akin na sabi niya, 'Parang medyo weird iyon na nag-Hong Kong si Mikee with your parents,'" said Toni. "That's very unusual kasi alam niya hindi kami pinapayagan ng mga ganoon. So, when he proposed, sabi ni Paul, 'Ah, kaya pala.'"
When asked about her marriage advice for Alex, Toni jokingly responded that she wants to tell Alex "not to be yourself," explaining, "Masyado siyang loka-loka, e!"
On a more serious note, though, Toni has some words of wisdom to help Alex on this new journey she's about to begin.
"Ang payo ko sa kanya is everything changes when you're a wife, especially when you become a mother. It's not about you anymore, it's about the two of you," said Toni.
The celebrity mom continued, "There's no more 'I,' I keep telling her. There's no more 'I' in marriage. There's no more 'me.' It's all about 'we,' 'us.' You become one with your partner.
"Sabi ko sa kanya, medyo slowly, i-invited mo na iyong, kapag kinasal ka na, it's a union na. You are one."
Toni was also asked whether she is involved in the planning for Alex's wedding. She revealed that she isn't. "Hindi nga niya ako sinasama sa mga meeting kasi alam niya guguluhin ko lahat, e. Medyo OC ako, e, medyo controlling ako, e. Hindi niya ako sinasama."
That said, the sisters revealed in January that they had finalized Alex's wedding gown during a trip to Singapore.
