Could third time be THE charm? Vickie Rushton and Samantha Bernardo are officially competing in Binibining Pilipinas for the third time this year, as part of 40 candidates vying for the different crowns.
Vickie, who was first runner-up in 2018 and part of the Top 15 in 2019, thanked fans for their support on Instagram. “You are the reason why I will never stop trying. I just want to thank all of you for believing in me. Yes, I have fears—it’s normal, but I know I can do this because I have you by my side.”
In 2019, Samantha admitted it was “quite a shock” to be crowned second runner-up two years in a row. “But I know truly in my heart that I gave my all, I deserve better, and I have no regrets. I fully respect and trust the decision of all the Bb. Pilipinas judges that night and I have nothing against it.”
The 40 candidates were chosen from 70 applicants. “This new era of Binibining Pilipinas presents an exciting roster of girls that has a mix of fresh faces and pageant veterans, all bringing with them their unique stories and advocacies,” said the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) committee.

The winners of the pageant will be crowned Bb. Pilipinas International, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, Bb. Pilipinas Globe, and Bb Pilipinas Grand International, according to Rappler.
In December 2019, the Miss Universe Organization announced that BPCI will no longer crown the Miss Universe Philippines starting this year. The Philippine candidate to the international pageant will be selected by the Miss Universe Philippines Organization led by Shamcey Supsup, the 2011 Miss Universe third runner-up.
