Where You Will Spot Your Favorite Stars On TV5

The brightest stars in Philippine entertainment are super excited about their new projects, and they couldn't wait to tell us all about them!
Now you've got more choices when it comes to local TV programs. A third player in the network wars, TV5, recently launched their new lineup of shows in a star-studded event that Cosmo attended.

We recently got a sneak peek at all of TV5's current and upcoming programs, and even managed to get a little stargazing done while we were at it! TV5 stars like Alex Gonzaga, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Chris Cayzer, Jon Avila, and Ruffa Gutierrez were there to show support for all of their projects. Most of the shows are a little different from what you usually see on the two other leading TV networks, ABS-CBN and GMA-7.

All About Entertainment

Of course, TV5's top-rating shows like Shall We Dance, Talentadong Pinoy, and Midnight DJ will still be airing regularly. Also, every Kapatid in the Philippines will continue to laugh out loud at the network's comedy shows, like Lokomoko U, Everybody Hapi, and Moomoo & Me. And if Koreanovelas and anime are your thing, you won't be disappointed, as they've got a wide selection.

If you've got a thing for a particular TV5 star, you're going to love 5 Star Special, a weekly drama anthology that features a certain celebrity in five different episodes. And if you've been dying for a new teen show to obsess about, check out BFGF, which will be directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal.

TV5 might be a new network, but it has legendary superstars in its roster. Comedy King Dolphy has signed on, and he's making a comeback through a sitcom called Pidol's World, along with his kids Epi Quizon, Vandolph Quizon, and Vandolph's wife Jenny Salimao-Quizon. It's being directed by another member of the Quizon family, Eric Quizon.

Box-Office King Vic Sotto is also starring in his own weekend comedy show called My Darling Aswang, which was inspired by his last Metro Manila Film Festival movie, Ang Darling Kong Aswang. His leading lady is Brazilian model Daiana Menezes.

If you're still wondering what happened between Kris Aquino and Ruffa Gutierrez when the latter had that huge meltdown on The Buzz, now you know: Ruffa is hosting TV5's weekly entertainment talk show, Paparazzi, with columnist Dolly Anne Carvajal, Cristy Fermin, and comedian Jon Santos.

Amy Perez is back on your small screen with Face to Face, and longtime TV5 star Joey de Leon is hosting a new weekly game show called House or Not, where they'll be giving away a house and lot.

If you love those wildly entertaining, classic Filipino Sunday variety shows, TV5's proud to present tons of music, dancing, and fun on Party on 5.

And, a blast from the past: they're bringing back everyone's childhood favorite, Batibot!

On News And Lifestyle

Everyone knows that a good network has a balance of entertainment and information. And so, TV5 beefed up its news and public affairs programs.

In the morning, the network will have a commentary show called Sapul. Erwin Tulfo, Martin Andanar, Lourd de Veyra, and Shawn Yao will give their opinions on current issues here and abroad.

The network will also break the late-night news stereotype by adjusting its time earlier than usual. With Aksyon, Paolo Bediones, Cheryl Cosim, and Cheri Mercado will give you the roundup of what happened in the country during the day.

Comedy duo Ariel and Maverick are back with their show Totoo TV, which will show the public the reality in different government offices every Monday. Then, every Thursday, Chris Tiu will present modern Pinoy heroes in Ako Mismo.

Other public affairs programs of TV5 include Dokumentado, to be hosted by News5 head Luchi Cruz-Valdez; Tutok Tulfo by Erwin Tulfo; Lupet, a documentary show; Timbangan, a special program in time for the coming May 2010 elections; and U.S.I. (Under Special Investigation), an in-depth news program to be hosted by Paolo Bediones.

TV5's head honcho, Manny Pangilinan, is confident that TV5 will break into the big time and stay competitive with other networks. "There will be setbacks and false starts along the way. Some will say that it cannot be done; that the task is too much for us, that we can't do it, it's too risky. But it's in our nature to keep on trying until we succeed."

Cosmo spotted a lot of stars at the TV5 launch! They mingled with the media, and even had a fabulous presentation, complete with various surprise numbers from their artists. Last time, we showed you the stars we got to rub elbows with. This time, see snapshots of the program by launching the gallery below.
