Yoo Yeon Seok’s long-running career is proof that he’s one of the best in the industry. The actor debuted in 2003 in the distinguished film Oldboy, where he played the role of Yoo Ji Tae’s younger version. That time, he was already praised by the movie’s director: “He was a good actor. I was worried since he was a rookie and the scene with Yoon Jin Seo in the science laboratory would have been difficult and scary for him. But he worked very hard and successfully filmed the scene.”

Yeon Seok has always dreamed of becoming an actor. After his appearance in Oldboy, he studied at Sejong University and graduated with a degree in Film Arts. In 2008, he returned to the industry and from there, he has been cast in a long list of hit dramas. He’s also a dedicated theater artist, published author, singer. In fact, Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried even chose him as his ideal type. Just wow.

Apart from his pretty face (can we just say that he looks A LOT like EXO’s Sehun??) and undeniable talent, what we admire the most about him is his unrivaled determination. Yeon Seok went to over 100 auditions before he was discovered. In a variety show, he revealed how he wasn’t able to make much from his acting projects for almost a decade, and it was Reply 1994 that changed his life. He mentioned that when he was able to buy his parents a gift, it was the happiest moment in his life. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just wipe my tears in a corner.
