Tired all the time? Unless you’re a morning person, you’re probably just like rest of us in constant battle with our alarm clocks. You can blame it on overbooked schedules all you want, but at the end of the day, it all boils down to your daily habits.

The first and most obvious culprit for exhaustion is sleep deprivation. Clocking in extra hours of sleep is not only good for your health, it will also keep you looking young and pretty. If you’re finding it hard to adjust your sleeping patterns, steer clear of caffeinated drinks like coffee and alcohol.

It is also important to watch what you eat. Munching on sugars and empty calories will leave you feeling more fatigued due to fluctuating blood sugar levels. Try this: instead of reaching for a candy bar when you need an energy boost, opt for fresh fruit. "Most people feel like they're less tired if they eat a healthy diet," says J. Fred Ralston Jr., MD, past president of the American College of Physicians.

And last but not least, exhaustion is caused by the lack of exercise. It may sound ironic considering how tiring an intense workout can be, but vigorous exercise actually breeds energy. Studies have shown that people who exercise regularly are less likely to feel worn out than those who remain idle. Get the ball rolling by exercising for 40 minutes at least four times a week. Once you’re comfortable with the routine, increase your workout.
