Every woman knows how stressful it is to realize that you've missed a pill. Are you doomed? Should you stop having sex? What happens to the rest of the pack? ARE YOU ALREADY PREGNANT? We know that last one is a bit much, but nothing seems impossible when you're in a state of panic, am I right, ladies?

If it hasn't happened to you yet, trust us, the time will come. And that's okay. You're human. But what exactly happens to your body when you miss a dose?

According to Dr. Rebecca Singson, "the suppression of ovulation is removed so you can possibly release the egg." Yes, even if you miss just one

If you completely forgot to take your pill, her advice is to "take the pill you missed as soon as you remember and then take the next dose on time."

Let's say something life-altering happened and you skipped more than one dose, then what?

NHS Choices advises, "take the last pill you missed now, even if it means taking two pills in one day. Leave any earlier missed pills, [and] use extra contraception such as condoms for the next seven days." You should continue taking the rest of the pack as normal.

If you're still confused or unsure of what you need to do, please don't just leave it up to fate. Consult an OBGYN as soon as possible.
