The patient is a 38-year-old woman who traveled from Wuhan, China (deemed the "epicenter" of the virus) to the Philippines via Hong Kong. She arrived in the country on January 21 and toured Cebu and Dumaguete. On January 25, she was admitted in a government hospital in Manila and was reported to not show any symptoms of the virus.
The Bureau of Quarantine is tracking the places the woman has visited and the people she might have come in contact with.
29 people including the 38-year-old female are currently being monitored for coronavirus.
The Department of Health (DOH) has advised the public to "always practice hand hygiene, observe proper cough etiquette, avoid close contact with people manifesting flu-like symptoms, avoid contact with farm and wild animals, cook food properly, and adopt healthy lifestyles to mount immunity against infections."
