Buzzfeed just released this powerful three-minute video that shows how much society’s idea of what the “perfect” female body has changed over the last 3,000 years.
It starts with Ancient Egypt, where women were thought to be beautiful if they had long braided hair. It then covers the Renaissance and Victorian era, where full-figured women were favored by society, as it was a sign of affluence and wealth. It even shows what was considered beautiful in the '90s and dubbed it as “Heroin Chic” because of the rise in popularity of the drug. The latest ideal body? Booty-licious.
Here's our takeaway: Society’s perception of beauty is ever-changing, and it is really ridiculous how women are pressured to conform to these standards. The solution? Love yourself completely—self-love and confidence will never go out of style.
