Miss Universe 2016 Contestants Share Tips On How To Stay In Shape

If anybody knows how to lead a fit and healthy lifestyle, it's these ladies.

As tamad as we all are, we’re willing to bet that most of us have some fitness goals. And who better to motivate us than the gorgeous—and fit as hell—women of Miss Universe 2016? 

1. Water is your bestie.

According to Miss Universe Malaysia Kiran Jassal, you should stay hydrated: “In my opinion, hydration is something that is often times overlooked. It is exceedingly important that one is getting sufficient water throughout the day and whilst exercising. When I’m dehydrated, I find that I cannot perform at my highest peak, I experience fatigue, dizziness and muscle cramps, especially at my calves.” And our very own Maxine Medina agrees!

2. Music works wonders for your motivation.

“Have a workout playlist. [Choose] songs that are upbeat and make you want to dance. This allows you to get in a more intense workout,” says Miss Universe Belize Rebecca Rath. We recommend “Move Your Body” by Sia, “No” by Meghan Trainor, and “Final Song” by MO.

3. Make sure you’re actually having fun.

Fun workouts will keep you from quitting your routine. Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell urges you to “find what you love to do. Fitness should not be a chore, but rather something we love to do that makes us feel good from the inside out.  A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.  Whether it's yoga, running, or lifting weights (or all of the above), find what you enjoy.”

4. Consistency is key! 

Miss Universe US Virgin Islands Carolyn Carter believes, “It is important to focus on maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle every day of the week. My goal is to cherish and love the body I am in, not shock it or starve it. I do not do well with crash diets and I truly believe that system is not a sustainable alternative for living a fit life. I focus on making healthy decisions a daily routine. Portion control, selecting healthy options at every meal, and staying active throughout the day are a few ways that I try to stay consistently fit and health.”

5. Mix it up once in a while.

Miss Universe Australia Caris Tiivel attends box-fit classes and occasionally enjoys personal training sessions; she likes to be “pushed to her limits.” Miss Universe Dominican Republic Rosalba Abreu is a total yogi, while Miss Universe India Roshmitha Harimurthy is a dedicated swimmer.
