Lucy and Maria Aylmer are not your typical twins. Unlike most pairs that at least resemble each other, these two don’t even look like they’re sisters!
Born to a half Jamaican mother and a white father, Lucy and Maria are complete opposites in terms of skin color and features. Lucy has white porcelain skin, blue eyes, and orange hair, while Maria has dark skin, brown eyes, and curly brown hair. They look so different from each other that some of their friends demand to be shown their birth certificates to prove that they are indeed twins.
“Most twins look like two peas in a pod—but we couldn’t look more different if we tried. We don’t look like we have the same parents, let alone having been born at the same time,” Lucy told The Daily Mail.
The girls have three older siblings, whose skin colors are in between the twins’. Lucy said she inherited her fair skin from her grandmother, who has “a very fair Rose English complexion.”
Despite their physical differences, these two are very much twins at heart. Maria proudly tells her friends at college that she has a white twin, just as Lucy is proud to have a black twin.
