It's True! Millennials Spend More On Coffee Than On Savings

Told ya so.

We’re not sure if you’ve noticed, but whenever we write articles about how to save more money, we constantly remind you to spend less on coffee. And it’s not because we don’t believe in the magic of caffeine—trust us, we know

Still, when it comes to coffee, we have no control. And there’s finally a study to prove it. Investing app Acorns collaborated with SurveyMonkey and surveyed 1,900 millennials. They found that we prioritize coffee over our retirement savings: “A staggering 44 percent of female millennials aged 18 to 35 spent more on their morning fix than they did putting money aside this year.” Not worried? Well, this number is ten percent higher than the number of millennial guys with the same coffee habit.

As guilty as we are of embracing rainbow lattes and salted caramel frapps, we need to keep ourselves in check! Retirement might seem like a distant future, but with all the shit life throws at us, it’s a good idea to start saving up as early as now.
