Feel Good, Look Good

Featured

Dear Donna,

I read your column "Clueless About Fashion" and I was able to relate to it. It's a lot like me. I find it hard to start buying clothes that I think are right for me because of what others will say. How will I turn myself from being scared of changing my simple style to becoming a more fashionable person? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Hazel, 18

Hi Hazel,

There is always a little bit of difficulty and uneasiness whenever we start something new, but there's no other way around it. Start by making choices that feel good. Go for clothes that celebrate your individual beauty and personality. If you feel good with what you're wearing and in your pursuit to better yourself, then what other people think shouldn't be so important anymore. You'll never know what clothes will work best for you unless you try them, right? As a teenager, it's the perfect time to go all out and experiment because this is when you're supposed to be exploring and experimenting and getting to know yourself better. When else should you be trying on those bold-colored pants? When you're 50?

Have a blast, Hazel!

Love, D
