5 "Healthy" Foods That Are Actually Junk

Don't be fooled by labels.

1. Fruit juices.
Just because it says “fruit” doesn’t mean it’s actually made of fruit. In fact, most juices in supermarkets contain more chemicals and sugar than actual fruits.

2. Margarine.
People often replace butter with margarine thinking it’s healthier, but people who eat margarine instead of butter are more likely to die from heart disease. It’s important to note that margarine is not actually food—it contains chemicals and refined oils that make it taste like food.

3. Whole wheat.
It turns out a lot of products that claim to be “whole wheat” aren’t actually whole wheat. Grains that are pulverized into fine flour raise blood sugar just as fast as their refined counterparts. Also, modern wheat has been found to be less nutritious.

4. Commercial salad dressings.
Vegetables alone are healthy, but drowning them in dressing? Not so much. Salad dressing usually contains unhealthy ingredients like sugar, vegetable oil, trans fat, and artificial chemicals.

5. Sports drinks.
Sports drinks are packed with electrolytes (salts) and sugar, making it beneficial for athletes, but not for everyday drinking. They are basically like softdrinks, but with a little less sugar. You’re better off drinking water.
