The World's 50 Best Restaurants has just released its ranking of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants. According to the list, this year's edition focuses on different establishments in the region to inspire foodies to consider the featured eateries across Malaysia, China, the Philippines, and more.
Produced by U.K. media company William Reed Business Media, the annual list of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants is created using the votes of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, whose members include over 300 food writers and critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and regional culinary experts.
The early list reveals the 51st to 100th restaurants on the ranking, starting with Japan's Sugita and ending with Macau's Jade Dragon.
Two Philippine restaurants, Antonio's Tagaytay and Gallery by Chele, made it to the list this year. Antonio's Tagaytay figured at the 84th spot while Gallery by Chele ranked at the 90th spot.
"Our inclusion on this year's list has a special meaning for us," shares Gallery by Chele executive sous chef and partner Carlo Villaflor. "Chele [Gonzalez] and I see this honor as a recognition of our team. It is their faith in our vision and the hard work they put in day in, day out that inspires us every day. We could not be more proud of them."
"2020 has been quite the year," says Chele Gonzalez, chef and partner of Gallery by Chele. "All of us in the restaurant industry continues to deal with the shifting realities of the pandemic. We not only have to figure out how to keep our restaurant families and guests safe but we also have to ponder how to keep the business side of our restaurants moving forward. It has been challenging, to say the least."
