Today, in #FirstWorldProblems:
Mondelez International Inc., the maker of Toblerone, is under fire! Chocolate fans are outraged by the company’s decision to alter Toblerone’s iconic look—the gaps between the chocolate “peaks” are now wider, and the triangles are narrower.
With the new design, the Toblerone bar went from weighing 170 grams to 150 grams, but what’s irking Toblerone enthusiasts everywhere is that the price remained the same.
According to a Mondelez spokesperson, this change is due to the rising cost of many ingredients: “We carry these costs for as long as possible, but to ensure Toblerone remains on shelf, is affordable, and retains the iconic shape we all know and love, we have had to reduce the weight of this particular bar.”
