WATCH: This Pinay Shares What It's Like To Be A Delivery & Motorcycle For Hire Rider

When the pandemic began and everyone had to stay home to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading, delivery and motorcycle for hire riders became instant frontliners. They helped everyone get their daily supplies, and they also brought doctors, nurses, and other workers to their respective destinations.

In an exclusive interview with Summit OG, Angkas and Lalamove rider Chia Laron shared, "Sobrang pagtitimpi dapat yung meron ka kapag rider ka."

Chia started her career as a rider with a well-known motorcycle for hire company. From there, she eventually branched out to parcel deliveries during the lockdown.

At the same time, she admitted that it's not an easy job, especially for female riders like her. There's also no shortage of people who questioned her ability to ride just because of her gender. "Wala sa kasarian ‘yan. Pagdating sa trabaho, pantay-pantay na," Chia would tell them.

"May mga good feedback din naman akong naririnig, which is masarap sa puso," she added. Chia would often receive tips for her smooth driving, plus positive reviews for her prompt deliveries. When it comes to the money she earns, she said it all depends on how diligent you are as a rider. "Kadalasan, swerte na yung above minimum," she shared.

She has had all sorts of experiences as a rider—from delivering huge Christmas trees, to cancelled rides, and even irate passengers. According to Chia, it's important to always choose to do good, be good, and have a lot of patience. She also mentioned, "At [dapat] masaya ka sa ginagawa mo.
