COVID-19 has affected so many people, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) all over the world. Some have lost their jobs, while others lack the resources to make a proper meal. And because of travel restrictions, going back home to the Philippines can be a difficult process, too. These times have been tough, but the bayanihan spirit of the Filipino is stronger.
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a group of Pinay flight attendants got together to help out their kababayans who have been affected by the pandemic. Mary Grace Castro, one of the Saudi-based FAs, shares, "Nahanap ko yung ibang Filipino, 400 people sila na five months na silang walang trabaho, five months na silang hindi nakakain ng rice. Doon nag-come up yung team namin to try to help." She adds, "The whole community here sa mga female flight attendants sa amin, maraming gustong tumulong."
With the help of donations, the flight attendants were able to give essentials such as food and hygiene kits to over 400 OFWs in Riyadh.
