All cat moms would agree: A little extra love never hurts a kitty cat! Giving your cat some TLC is relatively easy—and affordable, too. Here are some ways you can give your fur babies the pampering they deserve.

1. Get your cat their own kitty bed.

Cats sleep an average of 15 hours a day, which explains why they’re always looking for comfy sleeping spots. Get your fur baby their own bed and set it in a relatively quiet and undisturbed area in the house. Pet stores often sell special beds lined with fur or cushion, but if you don't want to spend too much, you can always make a kitty bed by placing old towels and worn-out tees in a box.

2. Use toys during playtime.

Even your seemingly lazy indoor cat needs their exercise. Using toys when playing with your pet will help keep them fit and entertained. You can use simple ones like a feather toy, a laser pointer, or even a ball of yarn, or splurge a little by getting a cat tower that can also serve as a playhouse, gym, lookout point, and resting spot.

3. Make time for petting and grooming.

Cats are generally independent and aloof, but they can also be quite affectionate at times. When your cat permits it, spend time stroking their fur, massaging their back, and scratching the back of their ears. Always brush their fur to prevent hairballs and tangled mats of hair. Brushing also helps keep the shedding at a minimum—something your clothes will thank you for.

4. Spoil your kitty with catnip.

Catnip is an herb belonging to the mint family that helps cats relax. It's been long used as a special treat because of its sedative properties, perfect for when your kitty is particularly energetic or when they're stressed. Get some catnip from your local pet store and sprinkle it on your cat's food or rub some on their bed and toys.

5. Get gourmet food and treats.

One way to brighten up your cat's day is to give them a tasty treat that’s not your usual cat kibble. PURINA Fancy Feast is a favorite among cat mommas around the globe—these gourmet cat treats are made with real poultry, meat, seafood, and vegetables without by-products or fillers. It also comes in a variety of unique and delicious flavors and textures, from smooth patés to tender chunks.
