We’re pretty sure everyone has Batanes on their travel bucket list, right? Well, while you’re diligently setting money aside for those exorbitantly expensive tickets, here’s a little motivation to prevent you from dipping into your “Dying To Go To Batanes” funds.
In Sabtang, there’s a village called Savidug and there, you’ll find traditional Ivatan stone houses. Though they might look abandoned in some photos, Sabtang’s small population actually still resides there. Though most of the houses look similar, with their roofs layered with cogon grass, the doors and windows are where the people express their creativity. Most of them are painted blue or green, which is reminiscent of the sea.
