  • A member of a cabin crew has revealed the best piece of advice for improving a long haul flight, and namely because it involves snacks, it's worth taking on board.

Despite the fact long-haul flights essentially involve binge-watching movies and napping, they aren't up there with our favorite things. Which might be because they dry your skin out, make you jet lagged, and involve spending upwards of eight hours in the air.

But if there's one person who's well-equipped to offer decent advice on how to make them more bearable, it's a member of cabin crew. Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, an Emirates flight attendant revealed their best tip for improving a long-haul flight.

"Some people suggest that skipping meals helps to keep jet lag at bay, but we would simply advise avoiding any foods that might trigger indigestion or a bloated feeling."

Because salty food tends to make the body retain water, they can leave you feeling puffy and dehydrated, which isn't ideal considering the aircon is also guilty of drying your complexion out, as well. Instead, stick to fresh and nutritious food where you can, and drink lots of liquids.

This comes as travel blogger The Flight Attendant Life also advised bringing lots of your own snacks on board, in order to maintain normality for your bodily functions. "Pack your own healthy granola bars, trail mix, dried fruit, etc. Also, be careful and avoid foods that cause gastrointestinal distress and be careful not to overeat."

We'd better get some snacks in.
