Turns out, we don't have to travel far to have the most luxurious experience of having an entire island to ourselves. That's because the world's most expensive private island is actually located in the Philippines—in Palawan, to be exact.
Banwa Private Island in Roxas, Palawan is around one and a half to two hours away from Metro Manila depending on how you choose to get there—you can fly via a private jet, helicopter, or seaplane.
"A buy-out rate of $100,000 per night immediately places it among the world’s most exclusive island retreats," according to Forbes. "Set within this archipelago of around 1,780 emerald forested islands, Banwa shines for its natural beauty and seclusion."
The entire island can house up to 48 guests, featuring beachfront villas with one-, two-, and four-bedroom suites designed by Manosa & Co. Aside from the crystal clear water in its indoor pools, floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the villas provide a wonderful view of the ocean and the white sand beach! The exclusive residence of the island's owner, which can accommodate up to 22 guests, can also be rented and includes a butler service.
What is there to do on a private island, you ask? Well, Banwa's guests have full access to several restaurants, spa sessions, a juice bar, gym, tennis court, golf course, and Pilates studio. If you're in for a water adventure, you can go scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, jet skiing, or sailing. Booking luxury boats such as the Wajer 38 limousine tender and Lagoon 630 Catamaran is also a great way to explore the island!
