Siargao's Sugba Lagoon Will Be Closed Temporarily As It Undergoes Rehabilitation

The lagoon is famous for its turqouise waters.

Famous for its turquoise waters and its location right in the middle of a mangrove, Siargao’s Sugba Lagoon is just one of the many spots to see when visiting the island.

However, tourists who plan to visit the lagoon, which is on the northwestern coast of the island in the municipality of Del Carmen, may have to make changes to their itinerary as the Department of Tourism Caraga Region posted a tourist advisory that announced the lagoon’s temporary closure from January 10 to February 10 as it undergoes annual maintenance.

According to a report from Philstar, it’s not the first time that the lagoon was closed to the public. In February 2018, Surigao Del Norte Tourism and Culture Office announced the closure of the lagoon for repair and maintenance.

The report added that there are still other destinations in the municipality of Del Carmen that will remain open to the public. These include the Mangrove Forest, Kawhagan Sandbar, and Pamomoan Beach.
