The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines on Tuesday bared revisions in its visa application procedure, enabling select credit card holders, those with professional licensing IDs, and government officials a more seamless visa application process. 

In an advisory posted January 30, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines said the new guidelines are effective beginning Feb 1, 2024, and will run until December 31, 2024. 

The changes aim to streamline procedures and cater to specific categories of applicants. Here's a breakdown of the updates.

For Professional License Holders Applying For South Korean Visa

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Individuals with a valid Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license ID or an Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ID for lawyers.

Applicable Professions:

  • Physicians, Dentists, Lawyers (including judges and prosecutors), Certified Public Accountants, Pharmacists, and Veterinarians.

Eligible Family Members:

  • Immediate family members, including parents, spouses, minor children (with proof of student status for adult children), and spouses' parents.

Required Visa Application Documents:

  • Certificate of Employment (original) and a copy of the PRC license ID or IBP ID.
  • Exemption from submitting bank certificates, bank statements, and Income Tax Returns (ITR) for professional license holders and their family members.
  • Additional required document: Proof of relationship (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificates).

For Credit Card Holders Applying For A South Korean Visa

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Reserved for BDO Gold or BDO Elite Credit Card Holders (excluding Supplementary Credit Card Holders). (Please see full list below)

Eligible Family Members:

  • Immediate family members, including parents, spouses, minor children (with proof of student status for adult children), and spouses' parents.

Required Visa Application Documents:

  • Certificate of Employment (original), a copy of the credit card (front only with complete information), and the latest three months of credit card account Monthly Billing Statements (copy).
  • Exemption from providing bank certificates, bank statements, and ITR for credit card holders and their family members.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Members of the Senate, Members of the Congress, Governors, Provincial Board Members, and Mayors (City or Municipality).
  • Immediate family members eligible include one's parents, spouse, and minor children (with documented proof of student status for adult children).

Required Visa Application Documents:

  • Identification documents (original), such as a certificate of employment or certificate of appointment.
  • Exemption from submitting bank certificates, bank statements, and Income Tax Returns (ITR) for both the politician and their family members.
  • Other required documents include proof of relationship (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificates).
  • Exempted documents may still be submitted based on individual preferences.

Requirements for Government Officials Applying For South Korean Visa

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Persons with a rank higher or equal to Assistant Secretary of the Executive Branch of the Philippine Government and Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines/Philippine National Police (excluding those in acting duties).
  • Immediate family members eligible include one's parents, spouse, and minor children (with documented proof of student status for adult children).

Required Visa Application Documents:

  • Certificate of employment (original) with clear specifications of the affiliated organization, working period, position, and salary.
  • It is essential to provide accurate information; any omissions or inability to verify details due to a lack of contact with HR may result in disadvantages for the applicant.
  • Exemption from submitting bank certificates, bank statements, and ITR for government officials and their family members.
  • Other required documents include proof of relationship (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificates).
  • Exempted documents may still be submitted based on individual preferences.
