Heads up, job seekers! A hospital in the United States is currently hiring 1000 registered nurses from the Philippines, offering competitive benefits including a P400,000 monthly salary, a signing bonus worth $1000, and an opportunity to get an immigrant visa—processing costs also to be shouldered by the employer.

As reported by Joseph Morong in the GMA news show 24 Oras, he cited the country’s aging population as the main factor as to why they’re hiring healthcare professionals, which also include medical technologists.

In a separate report by Vox, it was estimated that about one-third of all foreign-born nurses in the US are Filipinos, and it’s already been a growing phenomenon since the 1960s. During that decade, 150,000 Filipino nurses went to the US under the guise of “benevolent assimilation,” a policy that allows more opportunities for Pinoy nurses to work in the States every time it faces a manpower shortage.

In 2019, a Pinoy nurse narrated her experience working full-time in New York, where she earns a salary of about P166,400 a month. (Read more here.)

Aside from the US, other countries are also opening job orders for Pinoy nurses, including the Middle East.
