Every year, without fail, couples all over the world celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14. But did you know that February 13 is also a day of celebration? It's Galentine's Day! No, that's not a typo.
Originally coined by Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation, Galentine's day is "only the best day of the year." It's when we acknowledge our female friendships as equally important as our romantic relationships. For Leslie, Galentine's day is all about "ladies celebrating ladies."
When it comes to celebrating Galentine's day, there aren't too many rules. You can have a good ol'-fashioned slumber party, or have a karaoke night, or even book a last-minute spa sesh at your go-to salon. For me, the perfect Galentine's mini party is a meal with friends, bitching about the patriarchy—Sex and the City-style.
