On December 28, 2017, the 65th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards was held at the Philippine Science Center Auditorium in Quezon City. One of the winners is Angelica Panganiban, who bagged the Best Actress Award for her role in the Maryo J. delos Reyes film The Unmarried Wife (2016). It was produced by Star Cinema.

In the movie, Angelica’s character is torn between forgiving her cheating husband (played by Dingdong Dantes) or moving on to be with another man who loves her (played by Paulo Avelino).

Last Friday, December 29, Angelica expressed her gratitude on Instagram. She dedicated her award to those who rose above their pain. She wrote, Maraming salamat, FAMAS! Thank you, Star Cinema! Maraming maraming salamat sa tiwala at paniniwala sa akin. Para ‘to sa lahat ng nasaktan, pero kinayang bumangon at lumaban. [It is a] happy new year indeed. #theunmarriedwife.”

Angelica bested three other actresses: Angel Locsin (for her role in Everything About Her), Kathryn Bernardo (for her role in Barcelona), and Janice de Belen (for her role in Ringgo).

Indeed, may we all triumph over our own battles in 2018. Congratulations, Angelica and to all the winners!
