Atty. Chel shared: "First of all, I fully support the SOGIE Bill and I do hope that it will become a law in the next congress."

The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Equality bill is basically an anti-discrimination bill and it "recognizes that many people, whether they're LGBTQIA++ or cisgender, experience discrimination based on their SOGIE. The bill seeks to protect all people from this kind of discrimination."

In a recent TikTok video, Atty. Chel also talked about supporting the LGBTQIA++ community, saying: "Tingin ko there should be no discrimination on the basis of gender. Dapat igagalang natin yung diversity ng mga tao, lalong-lalo na pagdating sa ating personal na mga paniniwala."

Atty. Chel adds that he thinks it's important to strengthen maternal and child care, especially nutrition for newborns, in the PH. One important thing he would like to focus on is the situation of women in law enforcement:

"Hanggang ngayon tingin ko hindi pa rin napapatupad yung equality, especially when it comes to women in those types of work I truly believe they could really be a big force in terms of making sure that our laws are properly implemented. Kasi there seems to be a very chauvinistic type of approach when it comes to our law enforcement. As a human rights lawyer, I have seen that, and dapat magbago din 'yon."

Atty. Chel says that through his free legal helpdesk, he has received messages from women about issues regarding their treatment, getting promoted, and being recognized in the service. "Although mayroon din naman na nakikilala at napo-promote, but it would appear to be an issue. I have also had some private conversations with some of them, and ganoon din ang napapaabot sa akin."
