Partylist Akbayan said Monday it opened a booth where discarded and damaged face shields can be exchanged for free vitamins, face masks, and alcohol sprays to encourage proper disposal of the now non-requirement.
The "Palit Face Shield" booth is located at the corner of Kalayaan Avenue and Masigla Street in Quezon City. President Rodrigo Duterte on November 15 lifted the face shield requirement in areas under as a general rule in areas under Alert Level 1, 2, and 3.
"Through this effort, we hope to provide the people additional and evidence-based protection from COVID-19, protect our environment from unnecessary waste, and urge the public to continue exacting accountability from the Pharmally plunderers," said Akbayan second nominee for representative in 2022 RJ Naguit. The partylist urged the government to implement an incentive-based retrieval and disposal of face shields. The group also encouraged the public to throw away their damaged face shields properly.
