Pinay weightlifter Vanessa Sarno bagged two golds and a silver medal at the 2019 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships on October 25 in Pyongyang, North Korea.
According to a report from Inquirer.net, Vanessa won gold in the 71-kilogram youth women’s division where she lifted a total of 209 kilograms, which was boosted with a 91-kilogram lift. The weightlifter also won a silver medal in a lift of 118 kilograms.
North Korea’s Ju Hyang U won silver while Uzbekistan’s Nigora Suvonaova won three bronze medals.
Other Pinay weightlifters who took home medals include Chariz Macawli with a silver and bronze medal and Rosegie Ramos with the bronze medal in the 40-kg youth women’s division and women’s 49-kilogram, respectively.
It seems like the Philippines has been bagging a lot of medals recently. This past month, Pinay boxer Nesthy Petecio took home a gold medal at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Russia on October 13.
