The link bridge connecting Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Ortigas Center is 45 percent complete, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar said during his inspection on February 7. The bridge will allow an 11-minute travel time between the business centers upon completion in 2021.
The P1.6 billion project that began in July 2017 was originally pegged to be completed in March 2020 but Villar said on Friday that even at this rate the DPWH is accelerating the completion of the project.
“With an accomplishment of 45 percent, we are fast-tracking the completion of this high-impact project linking Pasig and Taguig to ease traffic woes of motorists and commuters in Pasig, Mandaluyong, Taguig, and Makati," the secretary said.
The BGC-Ortigas Link Bridge will also be known as the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge. The four-lane two-way bridge over the Pasig River will connect Lawton Avenue in Makati to Sta. Monica Street in Kapitolyo, Pasig.
