While dressing up as Hiddleswift and dancing your way to a costume party is always a good idea, here are some low-key alternatives to spending the scariest time of the year with bae.

1. Tour haunted houses.

We all know that there’s no shortage of haunted spaces—houses, rodes, abandoned buildings, hotels—here in the Philippines. All you have to do is plan it out and you’re set for the weekend! Creep it real. ;)

2. Plan a murder-mystery party.

Why host a boring ol’ costume party when you can take the thrill up a notch with your very own murder-mystery party! If you’re not sure what that is, it’s when one of the dinner attendees is a “murderer” and the rest of the guests have to follow some clues to find out who it is!

3. Swap scary stories!

This one’s an oldie, but a goodie. All you need is a cup of hot chocolate, some smores, and the best scary stories you’ve ever heard! You can also buy a book and take turns reading them out loud. Don’t forget to turn off the lights.

4. Have a scary movie marathon.

You can go light-scary with Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters, The Addams Family, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. But obviously, you can also go full-blown horror fest with The Shining, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Scream, and The Exorcist. Take your pick!

5. Get a psychic reading.

Even if you don’t fully believe in that, it could be fun! You never know what your fate holds, and having someone predict your future is something unique you can do with your boyfriend. Let’s just hope the psychic doesn’t say anything cray about your relationship.

6. Ouija board, anyone?

Summon the spirits! True, your partner could just “push” the glass around, but how creepy would it be if he didn’t?

7. Go camping.

The dark of the night + campfire stories? Unbeatable Halloween combo! Seriously though, this will also help you tap into your adventurous side.

8. Attempt to escape a scary room.

Book an hour with Mystery Manila, and challenge yourself by attempting to escape a room using only clues and your wits. Plus, it’ll force you and your boyfriend to rely on each other so it doubles as a trust exercise!
